It's about that time, you want to splurge on a new pair of excellent noise makers but you don’t know where to start. We’ve all been there. Nowadays, wireless earbuds are pretty expensive to buy so you want to make the best decision possible.

When searching, look out for these five things:

1. Comfort: This is super important, if the wireless earbuds aren’t comfy then how will you enjoy them? Some wireless earbuds come with an ear hook so they tend to stay more in place on your ear. Others rest well in the ear and have bud tips in sizes to better fit in your ear. Another thing to focus on is the usability of controls. The easier it is to access controls and features, the better!

   A tip: If your ears tend to produce oil or wax, it might help to get earbuds with an ear hook. When buying a product, always check the product description to see if the buds include different tip sizes.

2. Audio Quality: This one should be obvious. You’re buying wireless earbuds for a reason at the end of the day, right? To use them to listen to audio, be it music or a movie, meetings or voice messages. So, the audio quality matters A LOT. Some people like clear and crisp sounds, while others like bass to flow through their skulls. It's usually best to get a pair of earbuds that can provide clarity and quality. Again, if you’re a bass junky then maybe this isn’t for you!

3. Noise Cancellation: This is a pretty common feature in most high-end wireless earbuds. It's ideal for those that want to zone out of their surroundings and immerse themselves in what they’re listening to. Or maybe you’re just trying to study and want to hear nothing but LoFi hip hop. We don’t know! The point is simple, noise cancellation is better. Even if you don’t use it, it can come in handy every once in a while. Noisy kids? Noise cancellation. Loud neighbours? Noise cancellation. Hate the sound of your surroundings in general? Noise cancellation. At this point it's like beating a dead horse so let’s get to the next point.

4. Battery Life: Most wireless earbuds we’ve seen have a battery life of 6 to 7 hours. That’s what you want to aim for. Also, if it doesn’t have a charging case then it's definitely a no-no. Some wireless earbud models consume more or less depending on noise cancellation being active and how long you’re using them.

5. Water Resistance: This is nice to have. It's important you know this before you buy your pair of earbuds. Especially if you use your wireless earbuds when you work out. At the very least you want an IPX4 rating, meaning you can face some light splashes but you can’t do things like swimming or showering in them.

It is pretty clear that tech companies like Apple, Beats, Google, etc. are working to perfect the quality of their wireless earbuds. In some, you may find all 5 features, in others you find some but not all. There’s a trade-off, but its yours to make, for the right price that is.

Here's our take on the Anker soundcore Life P3 Earbuds:

• Comfort: The soundcore Life P3 earbuds have an ergonomic and comfortable fit with multiple ear size tips. To wear, just place it in your ear canal and give it a slight twist and it snuggles right in! You can also ensure optimal fit through the soundcore app. The soundcore Life P3 has excellent quality touch controls. They may seem to be highly sensitive to touch, but with time they pretty much become familiar. Tap twice to play or take calls, press and hold for 2 seconds to end calls or enter noise cancelling mode. You can always adjust what buttons and taps do through the soundcore app.

• Audio Quality: The soundcore Life P3 features excellent technology with 22 presets for unique hearing experiences. This enables you to have a more immersive experience in everything you do. They tout bass-up technology for bass junkies, but the earbuds still manage to deliver crisp clear sound when the audiophile demands it. Each earbud has 3 microphones and AI to capture your voice in the best way possible.

• Noise Cancellation: The soundcore Life P3s have Active Noise Cancellation technology (abbreviated as ANC). Through the soundcore app you can go as far as adjusting your ANC experience to adapt to different environments like outdoors, indoors, or while on transportation. You can even adjust your experience for things like white noise for napping.

• Battery Life: The Anker soundcore Life P3 has excellent battery life, up to 10 hours on a single charge. It also comes with a charging case which allows for up to 50 hours of charging life! A 10-minute charge gives you 4 hours of battery life. You can even charge the case wirelessly.

• Water Resistance: The Anker soundcore Life P3 does pretty well in this category, with an IPX5 rating. This means its sweat proof, rainproof, and splashproof. But they’re not fully immersible in water, so please don’t try swimming or showering in them!

What We Didn't Like

The soundcore Life P3s don't hold very well in place when exercising. We feel they're more of a walk around the neighbourhood or use for work earbuds. For us, this is a big drawback when considering it the best all around. Many have also reported that they go a little too strong on the bass. We haven't personally seen that issue, it may be something fixable through the soundcore app.

The controls are easy to access and use, although some users may find it difficult to differentiate between the buttons by touch.

• Audio Quality: The Skullcandy Indy ANC Fuel True Wireless earbuds offer good audio quality, with clear and crisp sound, The earbuds come with active noise cancellation which can help reduce external noise, allowing for a more immersive audio experience. The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.0 which can provide a stable connection with good sound quality,

• Noise Cancellation: The Skullcandy Indy ANC Fuel True Wireless earbuds offer active noise cancellation, which can help reduce external noise by up to 32dB. This can help users focus on their audio and block out unwanted background noise.

They can withstand light splashes, but cannot be submerged in water. This can make them suitable for use during workouts or outdoor activities, but users should avoid using them in heavy rain or while swimming.

What We Didn't Like

Some users may find the ear hooks a bit uncomfortable if you wear them for long periods of time. Also, we’ve noticed that the Indy’s bass response may not be as strong as some users prefer. Some users may also experience occasional connection dropouts, but we expect this in many wireless devices. Lastly, some users may find noise cancellation to be less effective than other high-end earbuds in the market.

These wireless earbuds (or airbuds we should say…sound the lame joke alarm somebody) is absolutely the most advanced technologically, with both transparency and active noise cancellation modes… let’s not forget the spatial audio which makes you feel like voices are in the room you’re in. It also is extremely comfortable to wear. The only thing that makes us grind our teeth is the nightmarish process to pair them to non-Apple devices. Also, there are a few features that get lost when using Android devices like the ear-fit test. But these things are expected and a small price to pay for excellent quality wireless earbuds. The price is pretty steep here, we know… but trust us when we say it's worth it! Especially if you’re an Apple user and have multiple Apple devices! These things are absolutely the best. Hands down.

Best For Comfort & Noise Cancellation: Airpods Pro 2nd Generation

The earbuds also support fast charging, with 5 minutes of charging providing up to 1 hour of playback time. This makes them suitable for extended use, even when you're on the go.

• Water Resistance: The Airpods Pro 2nd Generation have an IPX4 rating, which means they are water-resistant and can withstand splashes of water. This makes them suitable for use during light workouts or in humid conditions. However, they are not suitable for swimming or showering.

To Sum It Up

Overall, the Airpods Pro 2nd Generation offers good audio quality, active noise cancellation technology as well as transparency mode, a comfortable and customizable fit, long battery life, and standard water resistance, making them an excellent choice. The earbuds are also easy to control, with a force sensor and touch controls that allow for quick and easy access to features. Again, if you are an Apple user, then 1000% go for it! If not, then these are still a pretty solid option, however, there are plenty of other options you should consider.

When you wear these, play “Bach Cello Suite No. 1, G Major, Prelude” and cry a little bit. It’s ok. The sounds great. They’re expensive but we feel like they’re worth the money.

We personally liked these, especially when it comes to the fitting aspect! They have a variety of ear tips and ear hooks. I personally love them, others may find them annoying but I don’t. I think that ear hooks help keep things in place, securing those earbuds in your ear. That makes them good to use in the gym!

We personally believe these wireless earbuds are excellent for those looking to do some exercise whilst blasting their favorite workout songs. They are well rounded; we personally love the way they fit the ears. Yes, they also have IPX7 water resistance like the Galaxy Buds 2, but the ear fit these earbuds have make them the better contender in our opinion. And let’s just say that Beats products have Apple virtually written all over them… that’s great for the features you get with these earbuds.
